Allison Fenserstock of the Times Picayune included the Stooges Brass Band in her "10 Memorable Live Music Performances of 2011" article.  We're thrilled to be included and to have an INCREDIBLE 2011...let's take a look back at the Stooges Brass Band highlights of the year:

In no particular order (they ALL were awesome!)

• HI HO LOUNGE RESIDENCY 

  The Stooges Brass Band began their weekly residency at the Hi Ho Lounge on St. Claude in New Orleans in 2011, establishing the funkiest damn show you can catch on a Thursday night in New Orleans. Learn more about the Stooges Brass Band at the Hi Ho Lounge here.

• "BEST CONTEMPORARY BRASS BAND" AWARD

  Winning Gambit Magazine's "Big Easy Music Awards" put the Stooges Brass Band on the forefront of the New Orleans contemporary brass band scene.  We plan to take it to a whole new level in 2012.

• "RED BULL STREET KINGS COMPETITION" FILM

  A fantastic film came out on the Documentary Channel this November, highlighting the Red Bull Street Kings Brass Band Competition in Oct 2010.  The Stooges Brass Band emerged victorious as the Red Bull Street Kings against established brass bands such as the Soul Rebels, TBA, and Free Agents.

• BLACK STAR, BLACK JOE LEWIS, TROMBONE SHORTY & MORE

  The Stooges Brass Band have been the choice support act of some major acts in 2011.  From the incredibly influential duo of Mos Def & Talib Kweli (known as Black Star), to playing in front of a PACKED crowd prior to Trombone Shorty (a former member of the Stooges Brass Band) at the Wednesday at the Square Music Series, the Stooges Brass Band magnetic stage show has attracted fans and other artists alike. Catch this Stooges Brass Band open for the Funky Meters at Tipitina's French Quarter this NYE.

• BROOKLYN BOWL

  The Stooges Brass Band has become a favorite of the incredible NYC venue, the Brooklyn Bowl.  Visiting 3 times in 2011, their stage show is rapidly gaining momentum.

• AMERICAN FOLK FESTIVAL, JAZZ FEST, GRETNA FEST, SXSW & MORE

  From New Orleans to Maine, the Stooges Brass Band has been a festival favorite across the country.
